Wet Willie started playing in 1969 down the road in Mobile. The groove, blues and rock band was still playing well into the 21st Century.
This was a free show at the Student Activity Center, with many students bringing pillows and blankets for some unexplained reason.
Jerome Olds opened the show with what is described here as "semi-soul." He's apparently now a music minister in Atlanta.
Southern rock will always be a crowd favorite, of course, and Wet Willie could announce a show tomorrow and still draw a crowd, such is their reputation. I probably watched them once or twice in Auburn without realizing at the time the band's extensive history.
