The lathe sits between Samford Hall and Langdon Hall, seen here. At the time it was a lecture hall and used for big forums and meetings. When I was on campus it was used for the occasional class and the free weekend movies.

Langdon Hall was originally a chapel for the Auburn Masonic Female College. It held famous secession debates in the late 1850s. Abraham Lincoln spoke there, which is staggering considering some of the movies we would later watch in the same room. Langdon also held graduation exercises for many years.

Those two girls are walking toward Toomer's Corner.
